Last week's layouts

I did quite a bit of scrapbooking last week, and I shared the layouts on our Two Chicks Designs' facebook page, but I never posted them here.  I decided maybe I should post them, so here they are with some tidbits from me!

You're a Rockstar

This layout uses a Scrapbook Generation sketch.  I am in love with the Ruby Rock-It's Bella Paper Boy collection.  Really, in love.  I think it came out a while ago, and I can't even find somewhere to link to online, but I love it! 

Tool Boy

This layout also uses a Scrapbook Generation sketch and Ruby Rock-It paper. I am addicted to those sketch books because they make it so much faster to scrapbook.  I love that they have all the info I need to complete a layout.  I am also addicted to the red paper with the white stars.  I went to the store and bought all that was left.  Yep, I'm crazy like that! :)

Tool Time

This layouts uses Bo Bunny On the Go collection.  I love the colors and patterns in this group.  It is perfect for all my boy photos, and I also used it to scrapbook a layout about me!

That's How I Roll

I don't usually scrapbook about me, but I have decided to try to do more of that. The first step is handing the camera to my husband!

All You Need Is Love

I used the Bo Bunny Alora Collection. It is beautiful, and I love that I can still use it for layouts with my boys.  Yes, it has flowers and girly patterns, but if I don't get too carried away, I can use it for my boys.  Besides, there are no rules in scrapbooking, right? 

Spring

Honestly, I am not crazy about this layout, but I love the photos of flowers from my yard.  I like the vibrancy of the colors.  I love the American Crafts Gardenia line...it is pretty and full of beautiful spring colors and patterns.

Cousins

I am so happy that we were able to get a good photo of all five cousins on my side of the family.  We are still a few years away from that with Brent's family, so it's exciting that at least one group will look at the camera and smile! This also uses the American Crafts Gardenia collection,  I love the stripe paper that I used for the border.

Whew. That is 7 layouts, 10 total pages, completed last week.  I love that I am scrapbooking regularly again. This week, I should have even more because I am scrapbooking with my dear friend Laurie on National Scrapbook Day! Yay!

National Scrapbook Day is coming!

What are your plans?  I am scrapping with my friend Laurie, who is responsible for re-introducing me to scrapbooking 6 years ago.  I will also be wearing a new t-shirt!  I love this one.

I am going to spend time this week getting ready to scrapbook. I know non-scrappers think that's silly, but I will be able to get lot's more done if I plan ahead.  To be honest, I say that I am going to prepare, but lately I have been in the "scrapbook zone" so I have been making pages whenever I can find the time.  I try to put together page kits, but once I prepare the kit, I want to make the page. Oh well...at least I'm scrapbooking, right?

BIG sale at Two Chicks Designs

I have my eye on a few things...I am hoping if I am really nice Mr. Chick will hook me up. I know you probably think I get whatever I want from our store, but Mr. Chick is pretty organized, so if it's not on an official website or wholesale order, it isn't on his radar. :) Maybe I should go online and place an actual order for what I want using a made up name...I wonder if he would notice?

You may not know this, but I love to read. Really...I read every day, usually for at least an hour. I will happily sacrifice an hour of sleep for a good book. I love this shirt in particular because it makes me laugh! I like big books and I can't lie. 

I also love this adorable Book Chick tote bag. Really, who doesn't need another tote bag? I think I am addicted to totes. 

Finally, I NEED this adorable baseball mom tee. You know I am a boy mom, and baseball season is almost here! It is cute and fun. That's My Boy Baseball tee.

Things in our business have changed over the past few years. We used to have huge 50% off sales all the time on the website. The cost of our blank goods has gone up by a pretty significant amount...at least 20% higher than when we started...so we can't do this sale as frequently as we used to. Packing time!

I am leaving tomorrow to attend the Crop on the Cape. I am excited and nervous at the same time! I hate leaving Mr. Chick and the kids, but I am excited to have a scrappy weekend with some very fun ladies!

I have been planning what to pack for quite a while. The first thing I planned was, of course, what I am going to wear! Here are a few of the things in my suitcase:

These Live Inspire Create fleece pants are my FAVORITE! They are super soft, super comfy, and fun. They are made from a burnout fleece, so they are even softer than a sweatshirt. I wish I could wear them every single day. Really, I would if I could. I am also taking the Live Inspire Create Hoodie that matches these pants. It's also super cute, and I consider hoodies a crop essential!

I think many times scrappers are so excited to go to crops, they forget to pack appropriately. The key is comfort, and layers. Remember that there will be a room full of women, and that it is impossible to have the room the perfect temperature to meet everyone's needs. I have been hot at crops, I have been boiling hot, I have been cold, and I have been frozen. I think once I was just right, but I have forgotten when and where that happened! My point is that you want to have a short sleeve shirt, a long sleeve shirt, socks, a sweatshirt, and anything else you think you might need to stay the right temperature. The people in charge can't help it if the temperature is out of whack so I try to plan accordingly.  

Now, you know that Two Chicks Designs had hundreds of different t-shirts. I have no idea how many...but I do know that at this event, I will be wearing several of them!   

My "what happens at the crop" shirt will be the first to go in my suitcase. It's my favorite.  As an added bonus, it is black, and therefore easily hides ink when I drop my ink pad in my lap. Not that I do that, of course, but just in case. It will also conceal drink spills and any other crop-related incidents that are potentially embarrasing.

I will also have my Keep Calm and Scrap On shirt. Whenever I start to worry about how I will ever figure out how to finish a page, or where I will ever find the perfect embellishment, I will remind myself: "Keep Calm and Scrap On. Keep Calm and Scrap On."

Finally, I am taking my Love 2 Scrapbook shirt. I am sure you know why!  It is heather grey, so it will also hide any unfortunate scrapbook incidents. At least that's what I tell myself. I'm hoping to be very graceful this weekend, but I'm not holding my breath!

I will of course take more than this, but I wanted to share my favorite items to wear. I will take my Holy Scrap pants, and some cute scrapbook pajamas too!

Guess what? All of my favorite items, including what I am taking to the crop, are on sale this week in Christie's Favorites! If you like the sweats, this is the week to buy them. They are on sale for the lowest price ever, and they won't be this price again for a long time...I promise!

Change is in the Air!

Today I wanted to pop in and tell you about a few changes we are making at Two Chicks Designs! The most important thing to know is that all of the changes we are making will allow us to serve you, our customers, better!

Last year was a busy year for us.  My husband, Brent, and I own Two Chicks and operate the business with minimal outside help.  We try to keep things simple.  As the year progressed, we began to look at how things were going and what was really important to us.  I did a lot of soul searching and realized that I was simply stretched too thin and had too much on my plate.  As a result, we made the decision in December to close our sister website, Scrapbook Chicks. Shortly after sending out our "Quitting Business" email to our Scrapbook Chicks customers, I received an email from someone named Carla interested in purchasing the business.  Fast forward 1 month and Carla is the proud owner of Scrapbook Chicks! I spent Saturday with Carla and her husband, and I am very excited for all that is in store for Scrapbook Chicks and our customers! She will do a great job with the business and I know she will be very successful.

When Brent and I discussed what we wanted to focus on in the future, and what the best decision was for our family, we agreed that the answer is Two Chicks Designs.  We have always had the most success with Two Chicks, and it is our bread and butter.  In the past few years, I have become less focused on Two Chicks Designs and have devoted much of my time to Scrapbook Chicks and other things.  Our decision to sell Scrapbook Chicks will allow me to focus on Two Chicks Designs. There are many new things we will be bringing to the Two Chicks website, and I will tell you more about those in the coming days and weeks.

One more thing to note...I have been out of the office since the first of the year recovering from surgery.  Brent is holding down the fort by himself right now, so our response times are not as fast as we would like them to be! He has also been Super Husband doing everything around the house.  I am finally able to sit at the computer for short periods of time, but I won't be able to return to my normal work schedule for another 4 weeks.  I am trying to help as much as I can from home in between naps! The good news is that once I recover, I will have a lot more energy than I have had in a long, long time.  I am excited to get back to "normal"!
